How to assemble your Joey II:
Scott Brown –
The cabinet itself is very nice and the fact that it rolls out from under my wife’s Kangaroo II sewing table makes it easy for her to have her serger on the left side and sewing maching on the right. However, all of these cabinets and sewing tables are made of particle board and assembled using pins and cams. The wheels of this Joey cabinet are 4.25″ tall and screw into an insert that screws into the bottom of the particle board cabinet. While moving the cabinet from a hard floor to an area rug, one of the wheels hit the edge of the rug and promptly collapsed. I turned the cabinet over and found that 3 of the 4 wheels were very loosely connected to the cabinet. Once the particle board is damaged or if the hole is too big for the insert, you can not use it. I ended up using 4″ L brackets screwed to the bottom of the cabinet with the wheel stem occupying one of the 4 holes in the bracket. I used a locking nut with nylon insert 8.0 – 1.25 to hold the wheel stem to the bracket and then installed it with the locknut seated into the hole (made slightly bigger to accommodate the locking nut. Then used 1/2″ wood screws to fasten the other 3 holes of each L bracket. This solved the problem and now the cabinet is strong and moves easily.

I purchased a second hand koala quiltmate and wanted the companion storage piece. This was the best packaged piece of RTA furniture I have ever purchased. It made assembly so much better than the typical experience.
